Part 1. Building The Form

In this first video, you’ll learn how to build the form that shapes your perlite pizza oven. It covers how to set up the base, adjust the tunnel opening, and use flexible materials to get a clean, snug fit around the mould, laying the groundwork for the build ahead.

Part 2. Building The Oven

It’s now time to prep the dome with cling wrap, then mix and apply the insulating perlite and cement layer. You’ll also see an experimental step, adding chicken wire for extra strength, plus tips to prevent cracking and help the oven cure slowly and evenly.

Part 3. The Oven’s Last Coat

In this step, you’ll apply the final thick layer of perlite concrete over the dome and chicken wire, then smooth it out by hand and board. Once shaped, the oven is left to dry for 6–8 weeks inside and out before installation, marking the end of the main build phase.

Part 4. Making The Door

In this final step, you’ll build a custom oven door using a core flute mould, reinforced with rebar and wire. The same perlite-cement mix is used to fill the form, with tips on shaping, reinforcing the handle, and allowing it to cure properly before use, finishing off the build ready for baking.
